Professor Leyva is a Principal in the Washington, D.C. office of the International Tax Services group of Ernst & Young’s National Tax Department, where he advises clients on the U.S. tax consequences of cross-border transactions. Prof. Leyva represents both U.S. firms engaged in activities abroad and foreign firms operating within the United States. In his practice, he advises U.S. multinationals on foreign tax credits, the taxation of offshore subsidiaries under subpart F, foreign currency transactions, and other aspects of outbound tax planning. He also advises foreign companies on withholding tax issues, the application of bilateral tax treaties, the taxation of U.S. branches, and other inbound tax issues. Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Prof. Leyva was a partner at Bingham McCutchen and McKee Nelson.
