Father O'Brien is a professor of law at the Catholic University of America, where he previously served as assistant dean for admissions and student affairs. He was an attorney for the Small Business Administration and a trustee for the Law School Admission Council. He was a member of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases National Advisory Allergy and Infectious Diseases Council. Father O'Brien has a wide range of teaching experience, including adjunct positions at law schools at George Mason, American University, St. Mary's University in San Antonio, and Loyola, Los Angeles. Currently a visiting professor at the Law Center, Father O'Brien has also taught here as an adjunct and as a visiting associate professor. He also teaches BARBRI material for the Georgia and Virginia bar examinations. He is the author of Long Term Care: Private, State and Federal Options for the Future (1997) (with Michael Flannery) and Domestic Relations, Cases and Materials (7th ed. 2013) (with Walter Wadlington), Family Law Statutes, International Conventions and Uniform Laws, (4th ed. 2011) (with Walter Wadlington), Family Law in Perspective, (3rd ed. 2012) (with Walter Wadlington and Robin Wilson).
