Professor Sheth is an attorney-adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. There, she is in the Office of Human Rights and Refugees, where she is the lead attorney on issues relating to women, indigenous peoples, and the aging. She also advises on issues of self-determination and population. She previously worked on state-to-state arbitration matters, claims, and domestic litigation in the Office of International Claims and Investment Disputes. Before joining the State Department, Professor Sheth did field work in Nepal related to providing reparations for victims of Nepal’s civil war. She has also worked on cases in the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and done human rights work in Argentina.
Professor Sheth received her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her J.D. from Harvard Law School, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Human Rights Journal.
