Professor Walsh is a Counsel at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) where she handles complex dispute resolution and litigation matters, as well as the negotiation and implementation of complex settlement agreements. She also does dispute system design work, designing successful mediation processes to achieve settlement where other processes failed. Professor Walsh represents the agency in mediation, and is also responsible for preparing management officials to participate in mediation with their subordinate employees, as well as acting as the Legal Division management representative on certain negotiations with the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU), the exclusive representative for FDIC bargaining unit employees.
Professor Walsh is a co-instructor and facilitator for the FDIC Mediation Advocacy Skills Course and the FDIC Advanced Negotiation Skills Courses, training both FDIC attorneys and para-professionals in effective negotiation and mediation techniques, along with providing constructive feedback during observed simulations. She also is the sole instructor for a course on Having Difficult Conversations and Dealing with Difficult People.
Professor Walsh received her J.D. from the University of Toledo, College of Law, cum laude. She also holds an M.B.A. from the University of Toledo, College of Business, cum laude, and a B.A. in Political Science and History from Eastern Michigan University, magna cum laude. She received the ABA-BNA Award for Excellence in the Study of Labor and Employment Law in 2008.
