This interdisciplinary workshop series, coordinated by Professors John Mikhail and Henry Richardson, is offered jointly by the Law Center and the Philosophy Department, with support from the Dean of the Graduate School and the University President and Provost. Each year that it is offered, the seminar will focus intensively on a different topic. This year's topic is Rights. The seminar provides a forum in which guest speakers from Georgetown and other institutions discuss their work with students, faculty, and other interested members of the community. The International Human Rights Colloquium brings to Georgetown leading scholars in the field of international human rights law and legal theory. Each week, one such scholar will present a paper to Georgetown Law faculty and students, as well as faculty from other area law schools and graduate schools, legal practitioners, judges, and diplomats. The Colloquium is conducted by Professor Carlos Vázquez.
Fri. 12:00-1:20 p.m. (odd numbered years, including 2009)
At this colloquium, a paper will be presented each week by a leading national or foreign scholar in the field of international law. The topics range from trade, customary international law and international criminal tribunals to morality and human rights. The Colloquium is conducted by Professor Carlos Vázquez.
