Important Information for Graduating Students

With finals, graduation, and Bar Exam preparation on your mind, we understand that loan repayment and other financial planning matters may not be your first priority. However, it is important to keep them in mind as you transition from a student to a graduate:

Required

  • Student Loan Exit Counseling
    • This online program is a federal requirement for all graduating students who have borrowed federal Stafford or federal Grad PLUS loans while at Georgetown Law.  It covers the basics for all borrowers -- from undergradate students on up.

Highly Recommended

  • Graduate Financial Planning I: Managing Your Student Loans
    • These in-person sessions are specifically designed to help Georgetown Law graduating students maximize their loan repayment strategies and to address any particular loan questions.  Income-Based Repayment, Public Service Loan Forgiveness and LRAP will be discussed.
  • Graduate Financial Planning II: Life After Georgetown Law
    • These advanced sessions, covering retirement savings, home buying, insurance options and more, are highly recommended for graduating students who have already completed Exit Counseling and a Managing Your Student Loans session.
