THE Lending Update |
Total Higher Education (“THE”) has suspended loan operations for the 2009-10 year. Although this will require you to change your choice of lenders, it does not alter the fact that student loans WILL BE available for next year and by following the brief steps outlined below, your loan funds should arrive on-time. What to do now As we discussed in the Student Loan Town Hall meetings this spring, students utilizing lenders that withdraw from the student loan program will simply need to request a loan from a new lender. Georgetown Law’s Lender Comparison Chart has been updated, and I encourage you to review the information available. In addition, you may choose any lender you wish, even if it is not on the chart - the choice is yours. This process should only take a few minutes.
To ensure that your funds arrive on-time, please take a few minutes to complete the above steps by June 15. Students who borrowed federal loans from THE for the summer that have already disbursed are not required to make changes to the summer portion of the loan. Please note that students attending the London summer program will be utilizing their new lender for all their loans since the program starts after July 1, 2009. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have any questions or concerns.
