The GCC, working with the World Resources Institute, released this state-by-state analysis of the benefits for states and energy consumers based on the allowances contained in the American Clean Energy and Security Act. The analysis was the basis for a July 29 press briefing.

July 10, 2009 The GCC updated its analysis of the state-releated provisions to reflect changes in the bill as it was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives on June 26, 2009. The GCC also released this updated table on allowance distributions.
May 22, 2009 The GCC released this analysis of state-related provisions contained in the American Clean Energy and Security (ACES) Act of 2009, accompanied by these tables that detail allowance allocations. The GCC has also compiled this analysis of the adaptation provisions, drawing side-by-side comparisons of language contained in the initial draft with language contained in the later version as passed by the House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
May 22, 2009 GCC Executive Director Vicki Arroyo was chosen as one of 16 experts who will advise California on implementation of the state's cap-and-trade program. Cal/EPA issued this release, as well as these biographies of the experts.
May 21, 2009 The GCC played a key role in bringing together 31 Governors who signed on to a Statement of Principles regarding climate change and energy policy. The newly formed Governors' Coalition on Energy and Climate pledges to work with Congress and the Administration in developing strong state-federal partnerships on climate and energy policy and to work toward common goals.
May 19, 2009    GCC Executive Director Vicki Arroyo issued this statement on the Obama Administration's proposed fuel and emissions standards.
May 14, 2009 The GCC filed these comments with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in response to the agency's proposed findings of endangerment.
March 3, 2009 This web story covered the Feb. 23 launch of the GCC.  Govs. Kathleen Sebelius and Chris Gregoire joined by EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson and CEQ Chair Nancy Sutley in welcoming the crowd of more than 200 who turned out for the event.
Feb. 23, 2009 Gov. Charlie Crist of Florida sent this letter of support, which was read at the kick-off for the GCC.
Feb. 18 , 2009 This Media Advisory announced the Feb. 23rd kick-off event for the GCC.
Nov. 3, 2008 Georgetown Law Dean T. Alexander Aleinikoff announced the creation of the Georgetown State-Federal Climate Resource Center (GCC), the first center of its kind to focus exclusively on the state-federal relationship and to promote the role of states in climate policy.

Sept. 9, 2009 The GCC/WRI analysis was highlighted in this article, "Waste Not, Watt Not,"published by the Center for American Progress. The article was also noted in BNA (by subscription) and on the Climate Progress site.
Aug. 5, 2009 GCC Executive Director Vicki Arroyo was quoted in this Mother Jones story, "CA Climate Strategy: Learn to Adapt," discussing the recent release of California's adaptation strategy report.
July 30, 2009 The GCC/WRI analysis of allowance funds to states and energy consumers in the American Clean Energy and Security Act led to stories on Reuters and in E&E News (this piece also appeared in The New York Times.) Wyoming Public Radio aired a segment about the bill's impact in that state.
June 24, 2009 BNA carried the story, "EPA, State Officials Call for Continued Involvement in Climate Policy, Regulation," based on a two-day workshop on state-federal interactions that was co-sponsored by the GCC (BNA story by subscription). Reuters ran the story, "Green States Line Up Behind U.S. Climate Bill," which reported on the meeting of the three regional GHG reduction groups that was held during the event. E&ETV interviewed Wisconsin Gov. Jim Doyle, who discussed how a federal cap-and-trade program would affect his state.
May 22, 2009 Many news outlets wrote about the new Governors' Coalition on Energy and Climate and the GCC's role in its creation. Stories appeared in the BNA Daily Environment Report (by subscription) and on the Associated Press national wire. Various business publications also picked up the story.
Apr. 6, 2009 US Carbon featured a Q&A with GCC Executive Director Vicki Arroyo, discussing the work of the Georgetown Climate Center, states' reactions to the Waxman-Markey bill, and chances for congressional action this year. (Available by subscription only).
Mar. 19, 2009 GCC Executive Director Vicki Arroyo is quoted in this New York Times/ClimateWire story discussing the effectiveness of voluntary programs in cutting greenhouse gas emissions.

Dec. 28, 2008 Vicki Arroyo, Executive Director of the Georgetown State-Federal Climate Resource Center (GCC), authored an op-ed entitled, "Louisiana Can't Afford Denial or Despair in Effort to Save the Coast," which appeared in the Times Picayune.
