2008-2009 FINAL RESULTS

This year's Law Firm Challenge ended with impressive results. The 2009 Challenge included 48 firms with over 2,100 alumni participants, which was an increase from 44 firms and 2,000 participants last year. The total number of donors climbed to over 1,000. Overall, 49% of the alumni in the Law Firm Challenge firms made a gift to the law center. $541,509 was raised for the Law Annual Fund through the Law Firm Challenge; $1,025,330 was raised overall for the Law Center.

The 2009 Challenge produced several other notable accomplishments.  Six firms achieved 100% participation: Group 1: Debevoise & Plimpton LLP and Keller and Heckman LLP ; Group 2: Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and Williams & Connolly LLP; and Group 3: DLA Piper and Venable LLP.  This was Venable's seventh consecutive year of achieving 100% participation and the fifth straight year for Debevoise & Plimpton. In terms of dollar raises, Baker & McKenzie LLP , Covington & Burling LLP, and Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP contributed the highest totals in their groups. This marked Skadden's third year at the top of this category in Group 3.

A friendly competition led by firm-based volunteers, the Law Firm Challenge educates law alumni about the importance of giving back to the Law Center.  Participating firms enjoy greater visibility among Georgetown Law students and "bragging rights" for the year.

The firms that competed in the 2008-2009 Law Firm Challenge were divided in to three groups. Group 1 was comprised of firms with 5-30 Georgetown Law alumni, Group 2 consisted of firms with 31-50 Georgetown Law alumni and Group 3 firms had more than 51 alumni.
