Established in 1991, the Graduating Class Gift program was inspired by students who chose to commemorate their graduation by giving back to the areas of the school for which they felt most passionate. Today, the program enables students to continue this tradition and make a difference in the lives of current and future Georgetown Law students.
We have all had different experiences during our time at the Law Center. We want your donation to be as important to you as it is to us. Not only can your gift support the program that is most important to you, it can also be a way to honor those who made a lasting impression during your years at the Law Center, be it a professor who inspired you, a friend who stood beside you, or a parent or spouse who has always supported you. Honorees will receive a letter notifying them that a gift has been made in their honor.
The success of the Graduating Class Gift is measured in terms of participation rather than dollars. A gift of any amount counts toward the participation rate and provides essential support to current and future Georgetown Law students. A high giving rate shows firms, foundations, and prospective students that alumni believe in the school. Not to metion, a high participation rate is one criterion U.S. News & World Report uses in its law school rankings. By participating, you are not only helping current and future students, you are also increasing the value of your own degree.
You may choose to designate your gift to many areas of the Law Center including EJF, a clinic, a journal, financial aid and the library. Your gift may also be undesignated, and it will go where it is needed most. This year the Class of 2008 has the special goal to create a scholarship for a member of the incoming class. To help us reach our goal of creating "The Class of 2008 Opportunity Scholarship" please check Opportunity Scholarship on our pledge card or if giving online choose "other" and type in "Opportunity Scholarship". We hope you will consider this option for donating.
