GOCard Benefits and Uses

The GOCard is the official identification card of the Georgetown University Law Center and much more! It's the way to pay for your on campus purchases and it allows you to take advantage of the DC law, exempting students from the 10% prepared food tax, at on campus food service facilities.

Purchases

By depositing funds onto your GOCard, you will enjoy the following benefits:

• Security - No need to carry around money for on campus purchases.

Transportation and Building Access

GUTS (Georgetown University Transportation Services) - Your GOCard must be presented to obtain free use of this service.

You will also need your GOCard to access Law Center buildings after hours.

How to Use It
· Deposit money onto your GOCard debit account. For more details on how to deposit money to your card, see the GOCard web page FAQ at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/gocard/faq.htm
· Present your GOCard to the cashier in the Cafe. By running your card through the scanner, your purchase is deducted from your account.
· If your GOCard debit account has insufficient funds for the current transaction, you will be required to pay the difference in cash.

The tax exemption does not apply to cash sales. You will need to use your GOCard as a form of payment to receive the tax benefit. Additionally, the cash portion of a split transaction will be subject to applicable tax. The tax exemption benefit applies to on campus food service facilities only. If you use your GOCard at off campus participating vendors, you are subject to applicable taxes.
