The Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL) was created in August 1999 at Georgetown Law. The Director is Professor John H. Jackson and the Deputy Director is A. Jane Bradley. Its mission is to encourage thoughtful and scholarly attention to subjects that concern the relation of law to cross-border economic activity. The Institute emphasizes research of fundamental, long-term, systemic problems and possible solutions. Its work provides important critiques of policies, negotiations, court and tribunal cases. Through its location at Georgetown Law, the Institute benefits from a large number of well-known faculty scholars who participate in IIEL activities and an outstanding library collection on international economic law.

Sidley Austin Brown & Wood LLP, a global law firm of over 1,500 lawyers, is proud to co-sponsor the WTO Moot Court Competition. Members of the firm’s International Trade and Dispute Resolution Group practice WTO and international trade and investment law in Sidley’s offices in Washington, Geneva, Brussels and eleven other offices worldwide. The firm has advised companies, governments and industry associations in over 175 WTO disputes, on the full range of trade law issues, and on the new round of trade negotiations now ongoing in Geneva. Our members include former officials of governments and international organizations and others experienced in negotiating and litigating trade and investment rules.

WorldTradeLaw.net provides a legal research tool for WTO dispute settlement. In addition to a wide range of free content on the site, the Dispute Settlement Commentary (DSC) service offers subscribers summary and analysis of all WTO dispute reports and arbitrations, an up-to-date keyword index of WTO case law, and a database of WTO dispute settlement statistics.
