Mateo is a Technology Law & Policy LLM student at Georgetown Law who is interested in the intersection of Technology Regulation, International Development, and Global Governance. Mateo is also pursuing the Graduate Certificate in Global Human Development at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.

He graduated with both a LLB and a BA in Political Science & Public Administration from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. During his undergraduate studies, he participated in academic stays at Florida International University, Pontifícia Universidad Católica do Rio de Janeiro, and at the University of Cambridge. He also holds a BSc in International Economics & Management from Université Paris-Est Créteil, two LLMs -one in Legal Practice and another in TMT Law & Data Protection- from Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and an MA in Human Rights, Democracy and Globalisation from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.

Prior to Georgetown Law, Mateo worked as an Associate at the IP/TMT practice at Cuatrecasas, both in Spain and Portugal. He had also previously interned at the Environmental & Regulatory practice of Covington & Burling LLP, in Brussels. 

Mateo is the recipient of the Barrié Foundation Scholarship and is admitted to the Madrid Bar Association.
