Visa Advising ruler

The Office of Graduate Programs' visa advisor, Indira Marin Dingledine, offers a wide range of services to F-1 visa holders and works closely with J-1 visa holders to make sure that our students remain in compliance with immigration rules and regulations. We specialize in F-1 student issues, but we also assist students with various other visas to remain in compliance with USCIS (United States Citizenship & Immigration Service) rules. Though we offer professional and up-to-date advice, the information we provide is of a general nature. Because U.S. immigration rules and regulations are constantly changing, our counseling should not be construed as legal advice nor presumed indefinitely applicable. Our website will contain the most recent information available concerning F-1 student and J-1 student status.

We advise and counsel primarily on the following:

  •     USCIS requirements to maintain student status
  •     USCIS requirements for travel and re-entry to the U.S. during your studies
  •     Reporting address changes to the USCIS
  •     Employment benefits related to F-1 status in the U.S.

Ms. Dingledine serves as the primary advisor to F-1 visa holders about the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS). If you have questions unrelated to your status at the Law Center, such as a desire to change from one status to another, we urge you to discuss such matters with an immigration lawyer of your own selection.

For more information regarding your student visa, please refer to the visa information website.
