The IST Policy for Departing Faculty & Staff ruler

Before leaving the Law Center, you need to make arrangements regarding any data you would like to save. Please see the instructions below on how to do so.

Email
If you would like to forward email, please contact the Law Center email administrator at netadmin@law.georgetown.edu. You will need to provide the administrator with a forwarding email address. Your LawMail account can be forwarded for 90 days.

To save your LawMail messages, you can archive them. For instructions on how to do so, please visit http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/outlook/export_lawmail.htm. If you want to transfer email messages to another account, the easiest way is to forward each email individually.

The IST Department can provide you with an exported file that contains all of the entries in your personal address book. However, you will need to rely upon outside technical support staff to import the addresses into your new email system. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that your new email system will support the format of your exported Law Center address book. Please note that your email account will be disabled the day after you leave.

Data
If you would like to take any of the files and documents that you created while at Georgetown University Law Center, please contact Barry Wileman, Manager of Computer Support Services, at wileman@law.georgetown.edu or 202-662-9282 two weeks before you leave. Barry can help you transfer your data to a CD or a memory key. Please note that your computer will be recycled for another user and all data erased after you leave.

Phones
We recommend changing your voicemail message on your day of departure, referring callers to your new number. Please note that your phone number will be reassigned within 30 days of your departure.
