YOUR NET ID The key to electronic communications at the Law Center is your Georgetown University Network (Net) ID. To determine what your NetID is, open your Internet Browser and navigate to http://contact.georgetown.edu. Type your name in the Search field and click the Search button. A Directory page containing the Net IDs that match your search criteria will appear. Locate your name and your Net ID. If you cannot find your NetID, please contact Melvinia Towns at 202-662-9050 or townsm@law.georgetown.edu.

PASSWORDS Please be advised that you have two Georgetown University-issued passwords: your Law Center password and your NetID password. Your default Law Center password is different from your default NetID password. Your default Law Center password will be provided to you upon your arrival at the Law Center. To change your Law Center password, please visit http://www.law.georgetown.edu/system/account/changepassword.cfm. Your default NetID password is a capital A followed by the last six digits of your Social Security Number without the dashes (e.g., A456789). This password will expire within 72 hours if it is not changed. To change your NetID password, please visit https://netid-mgmt.georgetown.edu/passwd. To facilitate your computing experience at Georgetown, you should make your Law Center and NetID passwords the same. If you have forgotten either one of your passwords, please contact the IST Helpdesk at helpdesk@law.georgetown.edu.

YOUR LAW CENTER COMPUTER Georgetown University Law Center provides Personal Computers (PC's) for faculty and staff use. Instructions on using your PC and accessing the Law Center's network can be found at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/faculty/gulcnet/index.htm. Information on supported software can be found at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/Faculty/AvailableSupportedSoftware.htm. The installation or downloading of unsupported software is strictly prohibited.

EMAIL The Law Center's email system is called LawMail. Your LawMail address is [your NetID]@law.georgetown.edu. To log into LawMail, double-click on the Outlook icon located on your desktop. Specific instructions for using LawMail are located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/outlook/index.htm.

RESTRICTED WEBSITES Various Law Center websites, such as Courseware, are restricted to members of the Law Center community. To log into the Law Center's restricted websites, open your Internet browser and navigate to http://www.law.georgetown.edu/system/login.cfm. Type your NetID in the Username/NetID field and your Law Center password in the Password field. Click on the Submit button and the Successful Login page will open. Courseware - Some faculty members have class-related websites on the Law Center's Courseware system. Instructions for using Courseware are located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/faculty/courseware/courseware1.htm.

EMPLOYEE ACCESS+ Employee Access+ allows you to access your employment information online. Address changes can also be made via Employee Access+. To access Employee Access+, navigate to http://limited.georgetown.edu/access.

TELEPHONY Fulltime staff are assigned a personal phone number, voicemail box, long distance code and a shared fax number. You will also receive a telephone directory and instructions on how to use the phone system. You can access the online directory at http://contact.georgetown.edu. For information on how to use the Georgetown University Law Center phone system, open your Internet Browser and navigate to http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/ISTInformationforFacultyandStaff.htm.

TECHNOLOGY POLICIES All Georgetown University employees are responsible for reading and complying with the University’s technology policies. Those policies can be found at http://policies.georgetown.edu/tech. Of particular importance is the University's Computer Systems Acceptable Use Policy. That policy can be found at http://policies.georgetown.edu/31641.html. The IST Department does not work on computers that do not belong to the University. If you have a home computer and are in need of technical support, you need to contact your computer manufacturer or a local area service provider. TRAINING AND SUPPORT If you have further questions, please visit the Faculty and Staff Section of the IST website, which is located at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/ISTInformationforFacultyandStaff.htm. The IST Helpdesk is the single point of contact where you can go for assistance with any computer problem. You can contact the Helpdesk at 202-662-9284 or helpdesk@law.georgetown.edu. Training is available for any of the computer applications used at the Law Center. Public training sessions are posted at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/ist/public_classes/class_schedules.htm and announced via email.
