PALM SETUP

In order for the below instructions to work on your device, your Palm must support Exchange ActiveSync. You will also need to have an active WiFi connection or have a data plan from your service provider to be able to sync wirelessly. Also, please be advised that during the setup, all of the Calendar data currently stored on your Palm device will be deleted and replaced with the Calendar data from your LawMail account.

Students, please be advised that Palm will replace your calendar data with an empty calendar.

  1. Launch the VersaMail application.**
  2. From the Inbox, press Menu.
  3. From the Accounts menu, select Account Setup and then select New.
  4. Type GULC in the Account Name field.
  5. Select the Mail Service pick list and then select Exchange ActiveSync.
  6. Select Next.
  7. Type your NetID in the User Name field.
  8. Type your Law Center password in the Password field.
  9. Select Next.
  10. Type your LawMail address (yourNetID@law.georgetown.edu) in the Email Address field.
  11. Type mail.law.georgetown.edu in the Mail Server field.
  12. Select Next.
  13. Click on Test Settings.
  14. Choose Done if you get a successful connection. If not, go through the settings again to make sure that all fields were entered correctly
  15. Please be advised that the initial synchronization may take a few minutes to complete.

Note 1: Once your Palm has been setup correctly, you can wirelessly sync emails, calendar appointments, tasks and contacts (only those in the actual Contacts folder, but not those listed in any subfolders).

Note 2: If this is the first email account you have setup using the VersaMail application, you will see an initial setup option and will need to select the option Continue, which will then take you to the Inbox.
