ABOUT THE JUNK EMAIL FILTER
The Law Center will continue to use Spam Manager for enhanced network security.
In addition to this spam and virus filtering system, Microsoft Outlook offers
a junkmail filter. Microsoft's Junk Email Filter is on by default,
and the protection level is set to Low, which is designed to
catch the most obvious junk email messages. Any message that is caught by the
Junk Email Filter is moved to the Junk E-mail folder,
where you can retrieve or review it at a later time. Currently, there is no
way to disable Microsoft's Junk Email Filter.
There are two parts to the Junk Email Filter: the Junk Email Filter
Lists and the built-in technology that evaluates whether an unread message
should be treated as junk email. This latter technology is based on several
factors, such as the time that the email was sent and the content of the message.
The Junk Email Filter does not single out any particular sender or
type of email message. The filter is based on the content of the message in
general and uses advanced analysis of the message structure to determine the
probability that it is a junk email message. You determine what email addresses
and domain names are on the Junk Email Filter Lists.
