APPLICATION PROCEDURE

JD/MSFS PROGRAM ADMISSION

Requirements for Admission
Full-Time Only

In addition to the JD Admission Requirements

  • One course each in principles of macro- and microeconomics.
  • Proficiency in a modern foreign language.
  • A satisfactory level of performance on the verbal, quantitative, and analytical portions of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE). LSAT scores submitted to the Law Center can be used in lieu of the GRE.
  • The TOEFL exam is required of all foreign students who are not native English speakers except those students who received their undergraduate degrees from accredited colleges or universities located in the United States. A score of 600 or above is required for admissions consideration.

Admissions Procedure
Students interested in applying to this program should complete and submit both the JD and the MSFS applications to the respective schools simultaneously. However, the deadline for applying to the MSFS Program is January 15 and the deadline for applying to the JD Program is February 2. The MSFS application materials may be obtained by writing to:

JD/MBA PROGRAM ADMISSION

Requirements for Admission
Full or Part-Time Status is Available
In addition to the JD Admission Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of algebra and calculus such as would be obtained in a year of college coursework.
  • A satisfactory level of performance on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT).
Admissions Policy
Persons holding baccalaureate degrees from accredited colleges or universities are eligible for consideration for admission. Georgetown seeks a diverse student body and encourages applications from students with a wide variety of academic backgrounds including the liberal arts and sciences, as well as business.

Requirements for Admission

  • A college level course in biology
  • One additional college level course in biology or natural science
  • A college level course in mathematics
  • Experience in health field preferred
Admissions Procedure
Individuals applying to the JD/MPH Program should complete and submit the Georgetown University Law Center JD application and the Johns Hopkins MPH application to the respective schools simultaneously. The LSDAS Report only needs to be submitted to Georgetown University Law Center. A copy of the report will be sent to Johns Hopkins by the Law Center at the student's request. Persons holding a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university are eligible to apply for admission to the joint program. In addition to academic qualifications determined by college transcripts and letters of recommendation, applicants are expected to have (in addition to the JD Admissions requirements):

  • Satisfactory performance on the General Test of the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
In order to enroll in the Joint Degree Program, applicants must meet all the requirements set forth by the separate admission committees and be admitted to both programs independently.

Students interested in applying to the JD/Philosophy Program should complete and submit both the JD and the Philosophy applications to the respective schools simultaneously. JD/MPP PROGRAM ADMISSION

In addition to the JD Admission Requirement

  • The PPI will accept LSAT scores in lieu of the GRE
  • Prior course work in pre-calculus or calculus, microeconomics and statistics is strongly recommended, especially if you have not taken the GRE.
  • Prior work experience is also not an admission requirement, but is highly recommended. Students applying without prior experience usually demonstrate an interest in the policy field through relevant course work and internship experiences.

TUITION AND FEES

Students enrolled in the JD/MBA, JD/MPP, and JD/MA Philosophy pay Law Center tuition for all four years. Students enrolled in the JD/MSFS, JD/MASSP,JD/MAAS, JD/MAGES, JD/MALAS, or JD/MAREES programs are charged MSFS tuition for their first year (while they attend the MSFS program), and Law Center tuition their final 3 years.

Students enrolled in the JD/PhD Philosophy and JD/PhD Government programs are
charged Law Center tuition for courses at the Law Center and the Graduate School until all JD
coursework and 24 hours of Graduate School coursework have been completed. Part-time
students (taking 11 or fewer credits) pay tuition at the Law Center per credit rate until the same
requirements are met. Students pursuing a doctorate then effectively transfer to the Graduate
School, paying tuition and/or fees there.

Students enrolled in the JD/MPH program with The Johns Hopkins University pay Law Center tuition while in residence at the Law Center and Hopkins tuition while in residence at Johns Hopkins.

FINANCIAL AID

Students enrolled in the (JD/MSFS, JD/MBA, and JD/MA Philosophy) programs are considered for financial aid through the Law Center only. Applicants may apply for financial assistance according to the regular financial aid rules and procedures of the Law Center, as set forth in the Law Center Bulletin. Students enrolled in the JD/MPP, JD/PhD Government, and JD/PhD Philosophy programs may apply for scholarships and fellowships through the Public Policy Institute, Philosophy or Government departments as appropriate. All other financial aid for JD/Philosophy and JD/Government students is administered through the Law Center until they have completed all JD coursework and 24 credits in the companion program. Any aid granted by the main campus should be reported to the Law Center Financial Aid office and is factored into the calculation of the student's eligibility for additional aid, including student loans.

Students enrolled in the JD/MPH program with The Johns Hopkins University apply for financial assistance each year to the institution where they will be in residence. Students apply for Law Center financial aid according to the regular financial aid rules and procedures of the Law Center as set forth in the Law Center Bulletin.
