Information for Current JD Students

Students may apply to a joint degree program during their first year of law school. General information about the admissions requirements for each of the 11 joint degree programs is available from Lindsey Monson in the Office of Admissions. Applications must be requested from the companion program and applicants who are current law students are judged by the same criteria as all other applicants to these programs.

Under some circumstances, second year law students may apply to the joint degree programs. Consult Ms. Monson if you are interested in applying to a companion program as a second year law student.

Other Interdisciplinary Study

Students interested in pursuing interdisciplinary study outside the 11 established joint degree programs should contact Sally McCarthy, the Assistant Dean of JD Academic Services at (202) 662-9041. If prior permission is granted, the Law Center will count toward the JD degree up to 6 credits earned after the first year of law school in a non-law graduate degree program. Students must submit a written proposal for such study to the Assistant Dean, JD Academic Services.
