Center for the Study of the Legal Profession ruler

The Center convenes a quarterly Roundtable of major law firm managing partners, ethics counsel, and general counsel for presentations and discussion of issues at the intersection of legal ethics and law firm structure and culture. The sessions are moderated by Professors Mitt Regan and Jeff Bauman. They include analyses of current developments; overviews of trends in the law; discussion of novel emerging issues confronting law firms; and research from various disciplines on organizational structure and management, ethics, and risk compliance programs. Experts in various fields, as well as Roundtable members, also occasionally make presentations and lead the discussion.

The Center also maintains a restricted-access interactive website for Roundtable members. This contains analyses and discussion of issues relating to ethics and law firms; documents involved in various judicial, administrative, and bar proceedings; copies of memoranda and research papers by experts on law firms and the legal profession; descriptions of relevant policies and procedures adopted by law firms in the United States and abroad; and links to research material organized by topic.

The current Roundtable program is fully subscribed. We are, however, considering the establishment of a second program. If your firm would be interested in participating in such a program, please contact either Professor Regan at 202-662-9414 or regan@law.georgetown.edu, or Professor Bauman at 202-662-9061 or bauman@law.georgetown.edu.
