New Library Databases

The library has subscribed to new databases which provide access to historical and statistical materials and include advanced search and interactive tools. In the News and Reports page: Both Georgetown Law Library, and our undergraduate library, Lauinger, have subscribed to new databases over the summer, expanding our access to historical, statistical and Practicing Law Institute materials. Click on the database name below for more information about an individual title.

It’s important to remember that as a member of the Georgetown community, you have access to these databases on campus, as well as off. If you would like a demonstration of any of these resources, please feel free to ask a reference librarian.

Library Tutorials demonstrate Bloomberg Law

During the summer months, reference librarians created tutorials on how to use the Bloomberg Law database for legal research. Each of the five narrated tutorials focus on one specific aspect of the legal research process. The areas covered include:

While the initial emphasis is to support the Legal Research & Writing curriculum, future tutorials on Bloomberg Law will demonstrate researching dockets and other court documents using the Bloomberg Law database.

Feel free to ask a reference librarian if you have any questions about Bloomberg Law. To request an account, please contact Beth Goldfinger, at or 212-617-2984.

October Mobile App Recommendation

As the semester really gets underway, you might find yourself juggling multiple windows on your laptop to navigate among research, writing, and communications applications. If the idea of an extra screen is appealing but the price and storage of a new monitor is not, consider using your tablet device as a spare screen. I have tried a few apps that perform this function and AirDisplay came up the winner in terms of responsiveness and intuitive controls. At $9.99 for either the iPad or Android versions, it is reasonably priced and very useful.

The library now maintains a database of useful mobile apps for research, scholarship, and teaching. If you would like to recommend additional apps for this database, please contact Jill Smith, Instructional Technology Librarian, at or 202-662-9165.
