Georgetown University Law Center student Bindhu Pamarthi (L’15) was crowned Miss District of Columbia on June 9. She is the first Georgetown Law student to win the pageant since Marshawn Evans (L’05) in 2001.

A native of Austin, Minnesota, Pamarthi grew up in several places, including North Carolina, where she competed in pageants from the age of 12. Her platform deals with animal testing and advocating for a cruelty-free cosmetics industry.

Pamarthi will compete in the Miss America Pageant in September.
