Advance Screening: HBO’s Baltimore Rising

Director Sonja Sohn (star of “The Wire”) presents film and live discussion on a city in turmoil after Freddie Gray’s death
WASHINGTON – HBO and Georgetown Law host an advance screening and panel discussion of HBO’s upcoming documentary, Baltimore Rising on Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 6 p.m.
“Freddie Gray sparked the movement, an uprising in our minds,” says one of the Baltimore residents portrayed in HBO’s upcoming documentary, Baltimore Rising (to air on Nov. 20). Director Sonja Sohn, who starred in HBO’s The Wire, will present the film she directed in the wake of the Freddie Gray’s 2015 death while in policy custody. The film follows activists, police officers, community leaders and gang affiliates as deep divisions between the authorities and community erupt into peaceful demonstrations and destructive riots.
A post-screening discussion will feature community members featured in the film and Georgetown Law experts in police reform and racial justice. A reception will follow.
