The second annual GEMALaw Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to George Mitchell, U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace; partner and chairman emeritus of the global board, DLA Piper; former U.S. Senate Majority Leader; former chairman of the board of Walt Disney Company; and Georgetown Law class of 1961.  In 2006 - 2007, Mitchell chaired an independent investigation into the illegal use of performance enhancing substances in Major League Baseball.  The award is given to a Georgetown Law alumnus who represents outstanding professional accomplishment as well as a long-standing devotion to the sports, entertainment and media industry.
