George Mitchell, U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace; Partner and Chairman Emeritus of the Global Board, DLA Piper; former U.S. Senate Majority Leader; former Chairman of the Board of Walt Disney Company; and Georgetown Law Class of 1961.  In 2006 - 2007, Mitchell chaired an independent investigation into the illegal use of performance enhancing substances in Major League Baseball.

The second annual GEMALaw Alumni Achievement Award will be presented to George Mitchell, U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace; partner and chairman emeritus of the global board, DLA Piper; former U.S. Senate Majority Leader; former chairman of the board of Walt Disney Company; and Georgetown Law class of 1961.  In 2006 - 2007, Mitchell chaired an independent investigation into the illegal use of performance enhancing substances in Major League Baseball.  The award is given to a Georgetown Law alumnus who represents outstanding professional accomplishment as well as a long-standing devotion to the sports, entertainment and media industry.
