In The Torture Memos: Rationalizing the Unthinkable, Cole collects and examines the once-secret memos that authorized the CIA's controversial interrogation tactics, and argues that the lawyers involved failed their constitutional and ethical responsibilities, and authorized brutal and illegal conduct. The panel will debate what forms of accountability, if any, are appropriate for the lawyers who drafted the memos.
