Sally McCarthy

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University Law Center Dean T. Alexander Aleinikoff has appointed Sally McCarthy as assistant dean for J.D. academic services. She replaces Mitchell Bailin, who was promoted to dean of students in February.

"For the past six years, Sally McCarthy has done a terrific job managing the J.D. adjunct faculty program, organizing orientation for our first-year students and coordinating faculty teaching seminars," Aleinikoff said. "We are very pleased that she has agreed to serve the Law Center in this new capacity."

As assistant dean for J.D. academic services, McCarthy will be responsible for curriculum development and scheduling for Georgetown Law’s J.D. program, student academic counseling and supervision of the J.D. adjunct faculty program.

McCarthy joined Georgetown Law in 2001 as director of J.D. academic services. Before coming to the Law Center, she worked at the National Law Center on Homelessness and Poverty in Washington, D.C., and at MFY Legal Services, Brooklyn Legal Services and the Legal Action Center in New York.

McCarthy received a B.A. in economics from Bowdoin College and a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law.
