WASHINGTON, D.C. - Georgetown University Law Center alumnus Jules Kroll (L'66) will take over as chairman of the Georgetown University Law Center's Board of Visitors for a two-year term beginning in the fall of 2005. He succeeds Regina Pisa (L’82) of Goodwin Procter LLP. "We feel very fortunate to have Jules take on this important role and we are grateful to Regina for her fine service to Georgetown," said Law Center Dean T. Alexander Aleinikoff. Kroll is the founder of the renowned risk consulting company Kroll Inc., which has worked extensively with the legal community for more than 30 years. He is also vice chairman and a member of the board of directors of Marsh Inc., a leading risk and insurance services firm, and serves on the International Advisory Board of its parent company, Marsh & McLennan Companies Inc. Known to many as the "founder of the modern investigations, intelligence and security industry," Kroll made headlines in the 1980s and 1990s for his firm’s work on Wall Street and its success in searching for assets hidden by Saddam Hussein and other dictators. In the late 1990s, Kroll's vision of providing clients with a full spectrum of risk mitigation services guided the firm’s expansion into employee screening, forensic accounting, data recovery, and corporate restructuring. In July 2004, Kroll Inc. was acquired by Marsh & McLennan Companies. The recipient of numerous awards throughout his career, Kroll was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Cornell University - his alma mater- in 2003 and was honored with the U.S. Entrepreneurial Award by BritishAmerican Business Inc. in 2002. The Board of Visitors is an advisory committee to Georgetown Law for academic, financial and other matters and is comprised of alumni and friends of the school.
