Office of the Dean of Students Mitchell Bailin, Dean of Students, oversees student life at the Law Center, including supervision of the Student Life, Residence Life & Student Programs, Wellness Promotion and Disabilities Services offices. He also provides personal and academic advising; develops and supervises co-curricular programs for J.D. students, including fall orientation, continuing orientation for 1Ls, and programs on professionalism; and coordinates the Law Center’s response to urgent student matters. Prior to coming to Georgetown, Dean Bailin practiced in the litigation department at Palmer & Dodge LLP in Boston, where he focused on the representation of schools and colleges. He also served as a law clerk to the Honorable Chief Justice Margaret H. Marshall of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. Dean Bailin held a number of positions before attending law school, including Assistant Dean of the Harvard University Summer School. Marianne Huger, Associate Director of Disability Services, has been at Georgetown University Law Center since September of 2006 and has previously served as the Assistant to the Dean of Students and the Manager for Student Services at Georgetown University School of Medicine. Marianne holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Affairs. Currently she is pursuing a Doctorate in Higher Education Administration with a focus on students with disabilities. Marianne loves to travel. Brenda Geraghty, Special Assistant to the Dean of Students, joined the staff at Georgetown University Law Center in January 2008. She previously worked in student affairs at the Quillen College of Medicine and the College of Pharmacy at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. Brenda holds a B.A. in Journalism from Ithaca College. She is originally from Latrobe, Pennsylvania, and recently moved to Washington, D.C. in the summer of 2007. She's excited to meet and get to know the students at the Law Center, so please stop by and say hello! Office of Student Life Dana Onorato, Director of Student Life, has been at Georgetown Law since the fall of 2005. She is committed to providing students with opportunities to enhance their skills, broaden their perspective and enjoy their student experience. She holds a B.S. in Advertising and an M.S. in Educational Administration. When Dana is not working she is usually chasing after her baby boy, Evan. Dana’s door is always open and she welcomes your feedback. Amy Garrison, Coordinator of Student Organizations, is a recent transplant to D.C. from Alabama where she served as an Assistant Director of Student Life at a regional state university. Amy received her B.S. in Social Work and her M.A. in Counselor Education. Amy is very excited about working with the Georgetown Law Student Organization leaders and members to develop and achieve their goals. Amy’s Strengths Quest strengths are Empathy, Ideation, Activator, Input, and Strategic which basically means she is creative, loves to share her ideas and put them into action. Amy is a self-processed cake connoisseur and loves to spoil her two basenji dogs. Beverly Sapp, Scheduling Assistant, supports the room scheduling functions at the Law Center. She is responsible for researching space availability, assigning spaces and ensuring that rooms are scheduled in a timely manner. She holds a B.S. in Music Education, and prior to coming to Georgetown, worked in the fields of teaching and meeting planning. Chris Falk, Office Manager, joined the Office of Student Life in the summer of 2008. As Office Manager, he is in charge of the daily functions of the Office of Student Life. He has a B.A. in Political Science & Philosophy from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. For the past five years, he attended film school out in Los Angeles at USC and worked in the film industry. He is now pursuing a part-time J.D. here at Georgetown. Office of Residence Life and Student Programs Carol Walsh, Director of Residence Life and Student Programs, has been with the Law Center since 1993. She has played a key role in the development of the Residence Life program as she helped open the Gewirz Student Center. Carol was born in Lima, Peru and immigrated to the United States with her family as a child. She holds a B.A. in Psychology, an M.A. in Professional Psychology, and she recently received her Ed.D. in Counseling Psychology. She is both a nationally certified and licensed professional counselor. Chris Hall, Associate Director of Residence Life and Student Programs, has been with Georgetown since 1999. Prior to coming to Georgetown Law, Chris worked for an educational foundation in Washington, DC focusing on civics and government, and for Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. He holds a B.A. in political science and history and an M.A. in Liberal Studies. Chris is a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan so beware! Meada Maury-Rice, Coordinator for Off-Campus Housing, has been with Georgetown University for 18 years. She has worked in the Office of Residence Life since November of 2000. Meada has held several positions with Georgetown University and at Georgetown Hospital. Meada is also a licensed realtor in Maryland. Marlena Anderson, Office Manager, joined the Office of Residence Life staff at the beginning of the fall 2007 semester. She has a B.A. in International Relations and Hispanic Studies. Prior to Georgetown, she worked for the Kuwait America Foundation and the National Campaign to Stop Violence. She enjoys working at Georgetown and can be found in the Gewirz Student Center. Center for Wellness Promotion Karen Pierce, Director of Wellness Promotion and Club Athletics, has been with the Law Center since 1997. Karen has a B.S. and an M.S. in Physical Education. She is a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Exercise Instructor and certified to conduct sub-maximal stress testing. You may associate Karen with the Health Fair or the annual Dodge Ball tournament. Karen knows that some of the best ideas come from students and she encourages your thoughts.
