RAD: Basic Physical Defense for Women
This nine-hour course in self defense is designed to develop and enhance a woman's options by providing information on risk reduction and hands-on techniques. The class is taught by Georgetown University staff that has been certified as instructors through RAD Systems, Inc. RAD Systems is dedicated to teaching women defensive concepts and techniques against various types of assault, by utilizing easy, effective and proven self-defense tactics. This system of realistic defense is designed to provide women with the knowledge to make educated decisions concerning resistance. Classes are open to female faculty, staff and students. Loose fitting clothing or athletic wear required (jeans are too restrictive). Tennis shoes, basketball shoes, aerobic shoes or multipurpose footwear work best; running shoes are not recommended as they do not provide acceptable side to side support of the foot.
