Benn McGrady presented on plain packaging of tobacco products and WTO law at a workshop on trade and health hosted by the Pan American Health Organization.
13 December 2011 - O’Neill Institute
Benn McGrady provided training on the application of international trade law in the context of public health emergencies. This was part of a broader workshop for government officials from India conducted by the O’Neill Institute and organized by the Pan American Health Organization.
8 December 2011 – Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids
Benn McGrady conducted a training session on tobacco packaging and palatability measures under WTO law for the International Legal Consortium of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids. The session involved government officials and representatives of civil society from a number of Asian countries.
4 November 2011 – O’Neill Institute (co-host)
The O’Neill Institute co-hosted a panel discussion with the Georgetown International Arbitration Society and the Institute of International Economic Law on investment treaty arbitration and tobacco control. Speakers included Benn McGrady, Justin Jacinto and Matthew Porterfield. Mark Herlihy moderated.

Benn McGrady presented on the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade at a lunchtime seminar hosted by the Institute of International Economic Law.
24 October 2011 – O’Neill Institute Colloquium
The O’Neill Institute hosted a colloquium on tobacco and trade. Speakers included Matthew Myers of the Campaign for Tobacco Free Kids and Benn McGrady. The discussion addressed a wide range of issues from US – Clove Cigarettes to the treatment of tobacco in negotiation of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement.
14 October 2011 – Office of the US Global AIDS Coordinator
Benn McGrady conducted a training session on intellectual property protection under international trade agreements for the Office of the US Global AIDS Coordinator. The session was tailored to support involvement of the Office in Trans-Pacific Partnership negotiations.

Benn McGrady presented an introduction to trade and health at an O’Neill Institute ‘brown bag’ lunch.

Benn McGrady conducted three days of training (in collaboration with other organizations and instructors) to government officials and civil society groups in Africa on the impact of trade and investment agreements on tobacco control.
