Lorian Hardcastle, LL.M., was a Law Fellow with the O’Neill Institute from 2010-2012. She completed her law degree (with Health Law and Policy Specialization Certificate) at Dalhousie University. She completed her LL.M. and is nearing completion of her S.J.D. at the University of Toronto. Her research interests are health privacy law, health system financing, regulation and governance of the health care system, constitutional health law issues, and governmental health sector tort liability.
During law school, Lorian worked in the legal department of the Calgary Health Region and as a research assistant to a number of professors in the Health Law Institute. Following law school, she worked at a law firm with a significant health law practice. Lorian also worked as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Lorian has taught Health Care Law in the Faculty of Health at York University.
