The Georgetown University Center of Excellence in Regulatory Science and Innovation (Georgetown CERSI) is a joint effort between the University and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to work collaboratively on projects that promote regulatory science, including innovative research, education, and scientific exchange. The O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at the Georgetown University Law Center is exploring how open innovation, effective collaboration and pooling resources will accelerate the business of developing medical products as well as benefitting public health. Although there are numerous benefits, there also exist potential legal and societal barriers – both real and perceived – to the sharing of information. O’Neill is exploring these barriers to data sharing.
