Recruiting Services

We are happy to help you recruit Georgetown Law students and alumni for your summer, academic year and permanent positions. Our Manager of Public Sector Recruiting is Ruby Sheikh. Please contact Ruby at (202) 662-9314 or ris6@law.georgetown.edu to learn more about our range of recruiting programs and to discuss your unique hiring needs.

Fall and Spring Recruitment Programs

OPICS hosts two major interview programs each year: the fall Government Interview Programs (GIP) and the winter Public Sector Recruiting Program (co-sponsored with George Washington Law School).

The Georgetown/George Washington Law School Public Sector Recruiting Program:
Employer registration opens on Tuesday, November 8, 2011.
Every winter, our schools co-sponsor the Public Sector Recruiting Program, which includes over 100 local and national public sector employers.  Participating employers recruit Georgetown and GW law students through pre-scheduled interviews, resume collections and informal information exchange. The 2012 program will be held on Saturday, January 28 at the GW Marvin Center.

Fall 2011 Government Recruitment Programs:
Each fall, the Office of Public Interest and Community Service sponsors the Government Interview Programs (GIP) for federal, state and local government agencies to interview Georgetown students for paid summer and permanent positions. Please click on the link above for more information about our Government Recruitment Programs

Short-term Opportunities Program

Like their counterparts nationwide, Georgetown's graduating students face a very uncertain legal market. The "Short-Term Opportunities Program" is designed to help these graduates obtain valuable experience by securing term-limited opportunities with public interest organizations, government agencies, and legislative offices. Graduates who secure unpaid fall 2011 internships may be eligible for a three month stipend from Georgetown. If you are interested in participating in this program, please complete our brief online registration form. We will notify graduating students of those employers that wish to participate in early May and instruct them to submit application materials through early fall.

Spotlight on Government Information Fair
Student interest in government opportunities is at an all time high, so OPICS initiated the first annual Spotlight on Government Information Fair in 2010. This program provides a forum for government employers and Georgetown Law students to engage in invaluable informational exchange about hiring programs and general information about a range of federal, state and local government agencies. The date for the 2012 Spotlight Fair will be announced in summer 2012.

Post a Job/Internship

If you are interested in recruiting Georgetown Law students, but are unable to participate in one of our formal interview programs, we would be happy to coordinate a job posting on your behalf.

We use Symplicity, an online recruiting management program, to advertise position announcements to our students and alumni. Interested public sector employers can post a job or internship directly on Symplicity or may send announcements to us and we will input them.
