DC Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Campaign - Every year Georgetown Law partners with the DC Earned Income Tax Credit Campaign to assist low-income DC residents in filing their taxes. Volunteers participate in two training sessions and commit to at least one assistance shift per week. Capital Area Immigrants' Rights (CAIR) Coalition - Georgetown students have been volunteering with CAIR for several years. Students have completed one-time dentention center visits, helped represent immigrant detainees, and provided research support. DC Employment Justice Center - The Employment Justice Center always needs student volunteers to serve as intake interviewers for their walk-in Workers' Rights clinic. The center also provides opportunities for research and some case work. Students with language skills are particularly appreciated. Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center - The APALRC works with low income and limited-English proficient Asian immigrant communities across the Washington D.C. metropolitan area and frequently requests law student interns. Founded in 1998 by law students and members of the local Asian American legal community, the APALRC runs a multi-lingual legal intake helpline and a legal interpreter project. The APALRC also provides legal representation and completes policy work in the areas of language access, immigration, domestic violence and family law, employment, affordable housing and tenants' rights, community development, and other areas.
