In town over the Thanksgiving holiday? Looking for something to do besides study? Below are a few great organizations serving the DC metropolitan area in need of volunteers. These projects qualify for community service credit under the Pro Bono Pledge.
I get by with a little help from my friends . . .
The Washington JCC sponsors an annual event, "Everything but the Turkey," which brings together over 400 volunteers to prepare 10,000 servings of food for people in need in the DC metropolitan area. All are welcome to participate. On the Monday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving, volunteers are needed to help prepare stuffing,
sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, desserts and more..
On Thursday, volunteers are needed to help serve Thanksgiving dinner to the 2,000 residents of the Community for Creative Non-Violence (CCNV) homeless shelter, which is just down the block from the Law Center. Any leftovers will be distributed by DC Central Kitchen to local homeless shelters, transitional housing facilities and community kitchens in DC.
I've got a driver and that's a start . . .

This organization provides nutritious meals to support men, women, and children living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses. Will you still feed me, when I'm 64?

I have to admit it's getting better, it's getting better all the time
(can't get much worse) . . .
