The Calendar will resume in August, 2007.

Public Interest and Pizza Series

Public Interest and Pizza is our Tuesday evening dinner series that features alumni and local attorneys who visit the Law Center to speak on a variety of relevant topics.  Past series included Climbing Capitol Hill, Your Career in National Security, and Working for the Workers: Careers in Labor and Employment Law.

Pathways to Public Service Employer Series

Pathways to Public Service Employer programs bring representatives of government and nonprofit agencies to campus to discuss opportunities and the unique nature of the public sector market.

Employers include the US Department of Justice, local public defender and prosecutorial offices, the State Department, the Government Accountability Office, The Congressional Research Service and the Presidential Management Fellowship Program.

In addition, representatives from nationally known public interest fellowships visit Georgetown each year to present tips and advice on successfully navigating the fellowship application process.

Students Helping Students Series

Students Helping Students Peer Mentor Brown Bags highlight GULC students and their summer and academic year legal experiences. Grab your lunch and join your classmates to learn firsthand about their public internships in a broad range of practice settings.

Students Helping Students Career Information Fair is an annual November event, where upper division students share advice and inside information with first-year students about their prior summer and academic-year work experiences in both the public and private sectors. Co-sponsored with the Office of Career Services.

Job Search Basics Series

The Job Search Basics Series provides students with tools to begin the public sector job search. Workshops include interviewing skills, effective correspondence, and finding and funding a public sector internship.

Public Interest Proud!
Public Interest Proud! events celebrate our community. During Early Interview Week we host a welcome back party; with student groups, we co-sponsor a public interest orientation for first years; and in the spring, we recognize student commitment to public service at our Public Interest Proud! dinner.
