Faculty / Full Time
& Limited -- P1 Level "F"
Spaces
All full time faculty members are assigned parking
on the P-1 level of McDonough Hall garage. Full-time
faculty members have the option of either having full-time
parking, including a monthly payroll deduction, or participating
in the Limited Parking Program, which allows for occasional
parking on a pay-as-you-park basis.
Monthly Payroll Deduction
In order to park on a full-time basis, faculty members
must sign up for a monthly payroll deduction in the
Parking Office, Room 154 of McDonough Hall. Upon requesting
full-time parking, the faculty member must complete
a Vehicle Registration card and obtain a P-1 Faculty
hang tag. The hangtag must be displayed on the rearview
mirror of the registered vehicle whenever the vehicle
is parked in the McDonough Hall garage. More than
one vehicle may be registered, or added to the registration
card at any time, however, a hang tag represents a
payroll deduction for only one vehicle and any circumvention
of this intent will be deemed a violation of policy.
Parking privileges are not transferable to any person
other than the person who is registered to park. Registration
will be updated and new hangtags issued each summer.
Georgetown University identification cards should allow
access by way of the card reader when the garage is
not attended. It is the responsibility of the faculty
member to notify the Parking Office is he/she wants
to cancel full-time parking for any reason, either permanently
or temporarily (e.g. Leave of Absence or Sabbatical.)
It is also the faculty member's responsibility to register
to resume parking upon his her return.
Faculty members should park in one of the marked Faculty
spaces on the P-1 level of the garage, indicated by
an "F" at the front of the parking space.
Staff is not allowed to park in marked Faculty spaces.
It is important that faculty utilize the marked spaces
when they are available in order to insure that there
are sufficient unmarked spaces available for the eligible
P-1 staff.
Limited Parking
Faculty who do not wish to pay for full-time parking
may participate in the Limited Parking Program. Participants
should purchase Limited Parking tickets from the Parking
Office at the established rate. When the faculty member
enters the garage, he/she must submit a Limited Parking
ticket to the attendant who will date the ticket and
return half of it to be displayed on the dashboard of
the vehicle. Faculty members with Limited Parking should
park in one of the marked Faculty spaces (indicated
by an "F" at the front of the parking space)
in order to insure that there are sufficient unmarked
spaces available for the eligible P-1 staff parkers.
Limited parkers are allowed to leave and return during
days they park at the Law Center, however, a ticket
stub with the current date must be displayed for readmission
and while parking in the garage.
Adjunct Faculty ---
P2 Level "ADJ" Spaces
Adjunct Faculty is entitled to parking at no charge
while they are at the Law Center on Law Center business.
There is not sufficient parking available for Adjunct
Faculty to park at the Law Center
to conduct business not related to their teaching
duties . Parking privileges will only be extended
during the semester the Adjunct Faculty member is at
term.
In order to obtain parking access for Adjunct Faculty,
the J.D. and/or Graduate Programs Office will provide
the parking office with a list of Adjunct Faculty for
the current semester. The Adjunct Faculty member must
complete a Vehicle Registration card and obtain an Adjunct
Limited hangtag. The hangtag must be displayed on the
rearview mirror of the registered vehicle whenever the
vehicle is parked in the McDonough Hall garage. Adjunct
hangtags are issued for six-month periods. Parking privileges
are not transferable to any person other than the person
who is registered to park.
At the beginning of the semester, the Adjunct Faculty
member will receive an adjunct faculty identification
card. These allow access to the garage when it is unattended
(nights after 6:00 PM and weekends).
Adjunct Faculty should park in one of the marked
Adjunct Faculty space on the P-2 level of the garage,
indicated by an ADJF/MCV sign at the front of the parking
space, unless otherwise instructed by the garage attendant.
Staff ---
P1 Level & P2
Level "A" Spaces
Staff is allocated a number of parking spaces on the
P-1 and P-2 levels of the garage. If spaces become available
they are offered to staff on a seniority basis. Because
of the limited number of spaces, there can be a long
wait for staff parking privileges.
Hang tags designate the parking level assigned. Staff
assigned parking on level P-1 should park in any space
on the P-1 level designated with an "A". Staff
assigned parking on level P-2 should park only in spaces
designated with an "A" on the P-2 level.
Once a staff member has been assigned parking he/she
must complete the payroll deduction form, a Vehicle
Registration card and obtain a P-1 or P-2 Staff hang
tag. The hangtag must be displayed on the rearview mirror
of the registered vehicle whenever the vehicle is parked
in the McDonough Hall garage. More than one vehicle
may be registered, or added to the registration card
at any time, however, a hang tag represents a payroll
deduction for only one vehicle and any circumvention
of this intent will be deemed a violation of policy.
Parking privileges are not transferable to any person
other than the person who is registered to park. Registration
will be updated and new hangtags will be issued at the
beginning of July.
Reserved Parking
--- P-2
Level "R" Spaces & Gewirz
The Law Center makes available a limited amount of
reserved parking on the P-2 level of the McDonough garage
for certain groups who must drive as part of their contribution
to the Law Center (i.e., Criminal Justice investigators).
Names of the approved individual parkers will be made
available to the parking office, whereupon they will
be able to register for Reserved P-2 parking. Those
approved for reserved parking must complete the vehicle
registration card at the parking office, receive the
appropriate hang tag, and have their Georgetown Identification
card programmed for admission to the garage when it
is unattended (nights after 6:00 PM and weekends). More
than one vehicle may be registered but parking privileges
are not transferable to any person other than the person
who is registered to park. In some cases the host department
will pay the parking fees and share the hangtag, however
each user should register their car at the parking office.
Fees are payable in a lump sum at the beginning of each
semester. Hangtags are issued for the academic year
and renewable at the beginning of the fall semester.
P-2 Reserved hang tag holders must park in the designated
area on P-2. The hangtag must be displayed whenever
the vehicle is parked at the Law Center .
