Instructions for CD Burning ruler

When the stop time is called, or if you finish early

When the proctor calls time, you must immediately stop typing, scrolling or otherwise operating your computer. After time is called, the proctor will instruct you to begin saving your exam.

    • Click the SAVE button, saving your exam to your hard drive.
    • Insert your CD or floppy disk into the drive. 
    • If you are using a floppy disk, click on FILE • SAVE AS and save your exam to the disk. 
    • If you are using a CD:

1.  Close the document

2.  Open My Computer and browse to your exam.

3.  Right click on your exam and click ‘Copy’.

4.  Browse to your CD drive.  Right click and click on ‘Paste’.

5.  Click on FILE • WRITE THESE FILES TO CD, and follow the instructions.

4.  Browse to your CD drive.  Right click and click on ‘Paste’.

 

1.  Close the document.

2.  Drag the file to the CD icon on your desktop.

3.  Double click on the CD icon.

4.  Click on the BURN button.

 

    • Verify that your exam has written to the CD or floppy disk.  If using a CD, be sure that the message ‘Files Currently on the CD’ appears in the window as pictured below.

    • You may also make a backup copy on your own disk if you wish.  We recommend this if you are borrowing or renting a laptop.
    • Do not open the file on your hard drive or your backup copy until grades have been distributed.  If the Registrar’s Office has any difficulty printing your exam answers from the CD or floppy disk, you will be contacted and asked to provide a copy from your hard drive.  The Registrar’s Office will accept your backup copy ONLY if the time and date stamp correspond to the time and date of the exam.
    • Bring your disk or CD, exam questions, exam number receipt and any other exam materials to the Proctor.
