J.D. Upperclass Legal Writing Requirement

There is a single upperclass writing requirement for J.D. students, which may be fulfilled by taking one of the eligible seminars or clinics marked AWR@ in the course schedule. These seminars provide opportunities for closely supervised writing of either a scholarly paper or some form of professional writing, such as appellate briefs. A complete list of these seminars and clinics begins on page 94 of this booklet.

Students may also fulfill the Upperclass Legal Writing Requirement by completing a Supervised Research project with a faculty member. Applications showing the requirements for Supervised Research can be obtained at the Registrar’s Office or online at http://www.law.georgetown.edu/registrar/.

Exam Conflict Policy: All Students

Examinations will be rescheduled, upon timely request, for any student who has two examinations that BEGIN within a 25 hour period. Students who have 3 exams scheduled in 4 consecutive days, or 4 exams scheduled in 5 consecutive days, may also receive relief. At the beginning of each semester, the Office of the Registrar will identify and inform all students who have exam conflicts and offer exam relief to them.
