Roommate listings are available at the Georgetown Law Center Community Marketplace.  You may use your NetID and password to access the Community Marketplace.  Through the marketplace Roommate page, you can post contact information about yourself and view the contact information of potential roommates.

Roommates are an excellent way to cut expenses and an even better way to become socially involved in the academic experience. However, before moving in with someone, there are a few things that should be considered to make sure you and your new roommate are compatible.  Consider the following as topics for discussion when searching for a roommate:

• Determine how to divide the costs of rent and utilities.  Unless there is a considerable difference in bedroom size, the expenses will most likely be split evenly between the roommates.
• Determine how to divide the daily living expenses.  Common-use items such as groceries, cleaning supplies, and everyday household items should be considered when deciding how theses everyday expenditure will be shared.
• The use and cost of community property such as furniture and appliances should also be discussed.
• Determine the type of person(s) that may fit your roommate criteria.  Do you want a male or a female, a smoker or a non-smoker, the life of the party or a homebody.
• Exchange emails, talk on the phone, and/or correspond with potential roommates.  If there is an indication that the situation may not work out move on the next possible roommate.
• Request a meeting with prospective roommates to plan and discuss the housing agreement.
• Ask for and offer references from previous landlords and/or roommates.
