Lounges/Common Areas

The Gewirz Student Center is equipped with three television lounges, located on the first, fifth, and eleventh floors. The ground floor lounge has a big screen television, VCR, vending area, and pool table. The third floor is equipped with two computers, and the eleventh floor television lounge has two balconies overlooking the city; all TV's have cable. Study lounges are also located on all of the odd floors in the building and a Moot Courtroom is on the ground floor.

Reception Area

The twelfth floor of Gewirz Student Center is commonly used as a venue for Law Center events and programs such as Multi-cultural Day, Student-Faculty Socials, and invited speakers. It is surrounded by a terrace overlooking Capitol Hill. In the event that the room is not being used, it is a common area for students to meet and study.

Student Health Center/Counseling Services

Student Health is the primary health care center for Georgetown Law students and is conveniently located on the lower level of the Gewirz Student Center. The staff is composed of a team of physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support personnel, all of whom are dedicated to providing students with quality health care. A physician is in the office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9:00am until 5:00pm, and Wednesday from 10:00am until 5:00pm, during the academic year. The Health Center provides general health care and treatment for emergencies and injuries. For further information or to make an appointment, please contact Dr. James Marsh at 202-662-9255.

Because our students' emotional and mental health is equally as important as their physical health, Georgetown University Law Center has a counselor on-site 20 hours each week during the academic year. Law students may attain counseling and other services offered on Georgetown's Main Campus as well. The efforts of the counseling center are aimed at helping students develop a greater self-understanding, identify and solve personal problems, and improve academic performance. All interactions with the Counseling and Psychiatric Service staff members are strictly confidential. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment with the Law Center's counselors, please call Mr. Patrick Lillis at 202-687-6985.
After hours mental health emergencies, call 202-444-PAGE (7243) and ask to speak with the clinician on call for the Student Health Center.
