Comparative Insurance Information ruler

During the beginning of the year, it is difficult to find time to research and select a health care plan right for you. For this reason, SBA has compiled a chart comparing health insurance plans that helps you pick a plan that best fits what you want and need.  Some of these alternative plans can save you between $150 and $1100 a year compared to the school-proffered Mega Life plan.

Additionally, if you plan on waiving the MEGA Life and Health plan, you must do so on Student Access and also by having your health insurer fax coverage to the insurance office.  The school's policy is that you must have major medical insurance.  This means that you must have health insurance that provides $100,000 in coverage for each major illness or injury.  Further, the plan must also cover visits to doctors in non-emergency situations.  For more information about what a plan must cover, check with the school insurance office, which can be reached at 202-687-4883.

You must have health insurance by September 30th.

This Guide has been provided by the Student Bar Association. SBA is a student organization, and the material contained herein has been provided by students, not the administration or the University, and should not be construed as recommending a particular insurer. This Guide is not an exhaustive treatment of health insurance terms and their meanings; students should research their options carefully and contact their local insurers to discuss plan-specific definitions.
