To ensure a smooth graduation from Georgetown Law, please be sure also to do the following:

-Update your name and address in Student Access+
-Complete and turn in your application to graduate
-Pay off your student account and complete and student loan exit interviews
-Read the detailed information on this website regarding Commencement tickets and Regalia, and make all necessary arrangements.

COMMENCEMENT TICKETS (in the event of rain ONLY):
For the main ceremony, tickets are not required if the weather is sunny.  If it rains, 2 rain site tickets are issued per person, beginning on March 10th.  You must claim your tickets in preson or they will be forfeited.  Beginning on April 21st, we will begin our round 2 distribution of tickets, if there are any available.   There is no guarantee that we will have tickets left for Round 2 distribution.  There will be an overflow location where family and friends without tickets can watch the main ceremony via satellite TV.

The main ceremony will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on May 18, 2008.  The diploma distribution will occur according to section, beginning at 3 p.m.  No tickets are required for this event.

Each section is invited to gather afterwards at a light reception.

If you are are officially visiting away for the Spring 2008 semester and you need to pick up rain site tickets and/or purchase Gala tickets, please email commencement@law.georgetown.edu early in the spring semester.

GALA TICKETS:
This optional event includes a dinner buffet, beer & wine bar, and dancing at the National Building Museum.  This event is black tie optional.  Tickets are $35 each for graduates, and $65 each for friends and family.  These tickets go on sale on March 10th.  There is a limit of one graduate ticket and up to four family and friends tickets per graduate.  We typically sell out of tickets to this event, so please send your request as soon as possible.  Tickets must be purchased in person by cash, check, or GoCard.  NO PHONE ORDERS!

If you are are officially visiting away for the Spring 2008 semester and you need to pick up rain site tickets and/or purchase Gala tickets, please email commencement@law.georgetown.edu early in the spring semester.

 

REGALIA RENTAL:

Many students prefer the ease associated with renting regalia online.  Starting Friday, Feb. 1 , 2008 students can go to http://shop.jostens.com/, select the "College & Post-High School " link, and choose "Georgetown University Law Center."  From there, you can place an order to have the cap and gown shipped directly to your residence.  The cap and gown rental will cost $55 plus tax & shipping.  (Regalia must be returned to the Main Campus bookstore on Sun., May 18, 2008.)  Announcements and class rings may also be ordered on this website.
