"The Innocent Man" is the true story of former minor league baseball aspirant Ronald "Ron" Williamson, who was convicted and sentenced to death for the 1982 rape and murder of a young woman in Oklahoma. Grisham chronicles Williamson's life on death row and his eventual exoneration, which was aided by the Innocence Project, a national litigation and public policy organization dedicated to exonerating wrongfully convicted people. Grisham is a member of the organization's board of directors.
This event is sponsored by the Georgetown Law Innocence Project as part of Criminal Justice Reform Month, a series of programs and events aimed at educating students about criminal justice issues and addressing challenges in the criminal justice system.
