Alma spent her Fellowship year with the National Partnership for Women and Families (NPWF). She received her Bachelor's Degree from Washington University in St. Louis in 1987 and her JD from NYU School of Law in 1992. She was a staff attorney for People for the American Way before joining Service Employees International Union as Associate General Counse.
