Old Pros are Leading the Charge for Flexible Schedules
"The conventional wisdom is that working moms are leading the push to make employers more flexible. But studies are showing it is another demographic altogether -- older workers. Baby boomers are making different kinds of plans late in their careers than people from earlier generations -- rather than retiring, many are seeking ‘retirement jobs.’ These jobs allow them to earn money but have some flexibility in time, place, or duties. This trend shows boomers expect to rely more on their own ability to support their retirement. The question is, will employers accommodate them?”

Dads Blaze Trails from Kitchen to Living Room
"It may seem hard to believe there's resistance to stay-at-home dads, but there are those who think dad belongs at work, not home raising the kids. We've all heard the criticism heaped on working and stay-at-home moms for either abandoning their careers or abandoning their children, and earlier this month I heard from more than 100 readers on the dilemmas faced by moms and the work/parenting issue. What we don't hear about as often are the issues faced by stay-at-home dads like Chris. Is it because there aren't that many? Men represent 2 percent of stay-at-home parents, or 98,000 out of 5.5 million, according to the 2004 census and ‘Get To Work’ author Linda R. Hirshman.”
