Tips for Handling Assignments at Your Summer Job

At your summer job, you may be asked to work on a number of projects, including researching and writing memoranda, briefs or other documents. To help you make the most of these opportunities, the Writing Center has prepared a video and a checklist on handling such assignments.

Watch the 10-minute video, "How to Take An Assignment at Your Summer Job." The video features both a "not so good way" to take an assignment and a "better way" to take an assignment.

You may also access the checklist "How to Handle An Assignment at Your Summer Job," in PDF format.

Thanks to Senior Writing Fellows Danielle Gonzalez, Dan McCall, Rebecca Carr and Andrew Lom for preparing this project in the spring of 2005. We appreciate the assistance and advice of Gihan Fernando, Assistant Dean, Career Services. We also wish to thank Larry Fischer of the IST Department for production of the video.
