HRI Soliciting Nominations for 2024 Bettina E. Pruckmayr Memorial Award
April 30, 2024The Bettina E. Pruckmayr Memorial Award. The award is presented each year to a graduating J.D. student who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to human rights work. The award honors Bettina Pruckmayr, a 1994 Law Center graduate who was dedicated to advancing human rights and the public interest. “Bettina had an inner spark that energized everyone around her,” said Professor Elisa Massimino, Executive Director of the Human Rights Institute. “She was brimming with creative ideas for how to make human rights real in people’s lives. Her example continues to inspire our community.”
Each year, the Human Rights Institute selects one graduating J.D. student who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to human rights work to receive this award. The award winner receives $2,000. We invite faculty, staff, and fellow students to submit their nominations to humanrightsinstitute@georgetown.edu by Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at 11:59 P.M. Please indicate why you think the nominee should receive the Pruckmayr Award. Please describe your knowledge of the individual’s: demonstrated commitment to human rights; specific work organizing, coordinating, or participating in human rights programs or activities; plans to continue public interest work in human rights beyond law school; and any other information that you believe would be helpful.
