{"id":14152,"date":"2017-07-25T16:50:27","date_gmt":"2017-07-25T20:50:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-resources\/registrar\/graduation-information\/"},"modified":"2026-04-16T19:16:06","modified_gmt":"2026-04-16T19:16:06","slug":"graduation-information-replacement-diplomas","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-resources\/registrar\/graduation-information-replacement-diplomas\/","title":{"rendered":"Graduation Information &amp; Replacement Diplomas"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Graduation<\/h2>\n<p>The Dean&#8217;s Office, the Office of Special Events, and the Office of Student Life host activities and events leading up to commencement ceremony activities in May.\u00a0 Please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/your-life-career\/activities-organizations\/office-of-student-life\/commencement\/\">Law Center Commencement<\/a> for updates and announcements about Georgetown Law Commencement.<\/p>\n<p>Students with an expected <em>off-cycle graduation<\/em> (October and February) typically participate in commencement exercises the following May.\u00a0 These students may participate in commencement exercises the May PRIOR to their expected graduation under the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The student has met with an Academic Advisor;<\/li>\n<li>The student has provided the Registrar&#8217;s Office with written permission from an academic advisor to participate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Approved students participating in Commencement exercises early will not appear in the University Commencement Program BUT their names will be included in the section site list and their name announced.<\/p>\n<h3>Plan for Graduation<\/h3>\n<p>Please mark your calendar for the following dates and deadlines to ensure a smooth path to graduation.\u00a0 <strong>It is important that you check your email regularly.<\/strong>\u00a0 For the most recent updates to Commencement, please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/your-life-career\/activities-organizations\/office-of-student-life\/commencement\/\">Commencement 2026 Website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>January<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Office of the Registrar will email all prospective Spring 2026 graduates with a request for students to confirm program and certificate information.<\/p>\n<p>Diplomas are printed with your name we have on file.\u00a0 If you have had a name change, please complete the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.law.georgetown.edu\/academics\/academic-resources\/registrar\/student-records\/name-changes\/\">Name Change Process<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>April<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Office of the Registrar will email all prospective graduates requesting changes to the proper name for the diploma as well as a review of information we have on file.<\/p>\n<p><strong>June<\/strong><br \/>\nSpring 2026 degrees will be conferred on June 3, 2026.\u00a0 The Office of the Registrar will email students when degrees have been conferred with a reminder on things to do after graduation and instructions for receiving diplomas.<\/p>\n<h3>Graduation Applications<\/h3>\n<p>The Office of the Registrar will email prospective graduates when the Degree Application\/Program Verification Google Form becomes available and\u00a0will provide instructions for completing the application along with the deadline for submission.<\/p>\n<p>Please contact the Office of the Registrar if you have additional questions concerning the Degree Application\/Program Verification Google Form or if you have not received the email instructing you to complete the form.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\">Expected Degree &amp; Graduation Date Change<\/h3>\n<p><strong>J.D. Students:<\/strong> Submission of a degree application does NOT constitute notification of an expected graduation date change.\u00a0 IF your expected graduation date is different than what is currently recorded in MyDegree, you must email the Office of the Registrar at <a href=\"mailto:lawreg@georgetown.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" class=\"cx_external_link\"><span class=\"cx_external_hyperlink\">lawreg@georgetown.edu<\/span><span class=\"visually_hide\">(This link opens in a new tab)<\/span><span class=\"cx_external_icon\"><\/span><\/a> by the degree application deadlines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LL.M.
